Dried Blood Spots (DBS)

Euroimmun’s product portfolio, ideally complemented by highly sophisticated instruments for punching dried-blood cards, enables fully automated processing of serological tests based on dried blood spots (DBS) as sample material. 

Capillary blood, collected from the fingertip, is applied to barcoded blood collection cards, enabling full traceability of the sample throughout the entire process. Various automation solutions are available for DBS punching (DBS Puncher or Panthera-Puncher 9 from Revvity) and automated test processing, providing suitable options for laboratories of different sizes and with different sample throughputs. 

For example, the analysis of DBS extracts with Euroimmun ELISAs can be performed using the EUROLabWorkstation ELISA or the Euroimmun Analyzers I or I-2P. Communication with the LIS can take place either directly via the instrument’s software or more conveniently via the EUROLabOffice 4.0 middleware, which allows all relevant information to be brought together centrally and displayed clearly.
